Navarra’s Department of Industry and Business Ecological and Digital Transition has signed an agreement with the Chinese city of Chongqing to strengthen commercial and business relations between the two territories.

The agreements were formalized during the China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE), a major international event focused on industrial supply chains, where a Navarra delegation led by Industry Minister Mikel Irujo took part.

Strengthening industrial links and attracting investment

One of the agreements focuses on Chongqing, a major industrial hub in China with more than 30 million inhabitants. The city is home to the gigafactory of Hithium, whose planned investment in Navarra is expected to generate around 1,000 jobs.

According to regional authorities, this connection is expected to strengthen collaboration between both territories and support the development of industrial value chains linked to this project.

The agreements also aim to promote new business opportunities across multiple sectors, including agri-food, healthcare, digital technologies, construction and audiovisual industries.

Expanding international partnerships

The agreements build on Navarra’s broader strategy to expand international partnerships and facilitate collaboration between local companies and global markets.

They follow previous cooperation initiatives with Chinese regions, which have already led to business exchanges, joint activities and increased engagement between companies.

Positioning Navarra in global industrial value chains

Navarra used its presence at CISCE to showcase its industrial ecosystem and explore new opportunities for collaboration with Chinese companies and institutions.

The region highlights its capabilities across several strategic sectors, including advanced manufacturing, clean energy, mobility, digital technologies and health-related industries, positioning itself as a competitive partner within global industrial value chains.
